Townsend Detachment members attended and participated in the POW/MIA ceremonies at the Alabama State Capital Building on Saturday, September 16, 2017.
Alabama remembers those service members who have not returned and those who were held as Prisoners of War in an Annual Remembrance ceremony.
This year’s Guest Speaker was Michael Durant, a COBRA pilot shot down and held captive in Somalia, his story is portrayed in the movie, “BLACK HAWK DOWN.”
Junior Past Commandant Don Fisher served on the committee to coordinate this memorial event and served as the event day, coordinator.
Commandant Nancy Burtron raised the POW/MIA flag on the state flag pole.
