BURLESON, Bruce David, 62, passed away July 26, 2011 after a brief battle with lung cancer. He left the world comforted by his relationship with our Heavenly Father. He was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara “Babs” M. Burleson and his father, William “Bill” Dudley Burleson.

He is survived by his wife, Debra “Debbie” Ann Burleson of Prattville, AL; previous spouse, Janice Willa Chitwood of Pike Road, AL; son and daughter-in-law, John David Burleson & Kindal Maxey Burleson of Madison, AL and his aunt, Sister Christopher Marie Burleson of the Sisters of Saint Joseph Convent, St. Augustine, FL.

Bruce was born and raised in Jacksonville, FL and attended Andrew Jackson High School. Upon graduation, he attended the University of Florida for a short time prior to enlisting in the United States Marine Corps. Once in the Marine Corps, he excelled through the ranks up to the rank of Master Sergeant. In 1991, he retired from the Marine Corps and relocated to Montgomery, AL. Here he completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Business Administration at Huntingdon College. He worked for a short time at Maxwell Air Force Base and then accepted a position as manager of Fedmont Federal Credit Union. This was where he used his financial ministry to make a difference in the community. His family and friends are comforted by the fact that Bruce is serving the Lord guarding the streets of Heaven as a United States Marine.
