Townsend Detachment participated in the Thunderbird Airshow at Maxwell AFB by hosting a tent representing the Marine Corps League. Our tent offered the general public a look into the Marine Corps League and cool drink of water on a hot day. Twelve detachment members and multiple spouses, took turns staffing the table over the two day event. Other members dropped by for a little time in shade and a cool drink. Highlights of the event were meeting other Montgomery area Marines and their families and of course the Air Show demonstrations. Five local Marines, who were not aware of the MCL presence in the River Region filled out applications for membership, and 4 others took applications home with them for consideration.
